Blessings for a Warm Autumn!

As we move into November and the holidays, we pray that you will be blessed with feelings of warmth and coziness.    We have so enjoyed the visitors and guests that have come to Restoration House.  We have been greatly blessed by getting to know the hearts of those we minister to.

For some of our clients,  it is a season filled with triggers and nightmares.  At Soul Restoration we are usually very busy with support and community time with those who suffer from this type of trauma.  Feeling safe means everything.   Our hearts are filled with compassion as we endeavor to re frame this traumatic time for them in a place where life can be managed, and hopefully even enjoyed.  It happens as we gather together in supportive sharing, bringing emphasis on safety and positive fellowship.

Please pray for those who are going through extreme difficulty during the holidays, and for the staff at Restoration House.  Thank you!

Thanksgiving!

We are planning our Thanksgiving Day for women who would normally be alone.  This is a special time for us as it is our first Thanksgiving at Restoration House and sharing this holiday with these precious women!  It is a wonderful time of blessings!

To RSVP please call Kris Close at 360-362-9554 before November 18th.

Our SRM Harvest Party

On the 31st of October, a major trigger day for some survivors, we hosted a harvest party.  We gathered together to have wonderful soups and fun games and fellowship.  A lovely way to reframe past trauma events with experiences of positive, sensitive and enjoyable ones.  And what a wonderful time of laughter and fun we had!  Thank you for all who participated and those who blessed us!

What is “Community”?

Community is one of those buzz words we hear about.   But to those who have a passion and heart to present and live it, it means so much more.

For those who have lived in extreme abuse,  their concept of family is chaos and violence.  True community can be a concept that is unfamiliar.  Part of healing comes through learning to trust, to be valued and to be validated.  Learning how to resolve conflicts and to relate in a healthy way that promotes healing is just one of the many ways community works.   The most important thing is having a place to belong.  A place in which to thrive and grow.   For those who have missed out on family and life resources because of abuse, abandonment and neglect, a healthy community can be an alternative that can produce positive changes that re frame a life time of pain.

As Jo Getzinger says in her article in “Thriving in Community”, “God’s plan for community life brings about miracles of healing and growth not only in the wounded but also in the helper, too.  It is a place to belong, giving and receiving, trauma recovery, maturity and living from your heart.”

“Is this not the fast that I have chosen:  To loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?  Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out;  When you see the naked, that you cover him, and not hide yourself from you own flesh?  Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.”  Isa. 58:6-8

Thank you Lani

Lani Kent, our former Executive Director, has been led to dedicate more of her time to her ministry Healing Expressions.  She will be missed greatly and we are so thankful for all the wonderful input and delight she has brought to Soul Restoration.  Thank you Lani!  We love you!

Canning  Class

Who knew canning could be so much fun and full of laughter? We loved the warmth and chatter of each lady that was there.   What a wonderful memory!
