Open! Miracles at the Restoration House

Dear Friends,

It’s been an amazing and beautiful season at Soul Restoration Ministries! This newsletter is longer than normal but we have much to share! Miracles have happened this last month, we are still catching up to all of the blessings that continue to pour in since the purchase of the perfect home for our Restoration House in Vancouver WA. In a short three-week period, we moved in and fully furnished the 5500 square feet of space with donations from many supporters and the community. Each of the living spaces are beautifully filled with more than we could have dreamed or imagined as we begin to open the doors to women in recovery from severe childhood trauma. It’s been a miraculous transformation! God is so faithful!  We already have had our first two overnight respite guests and were honored by the thoughts they shared with us about their stay. The following slideshow is a peek into our progress at the house so far:

HEARTFELT THANKS:

There are so many to thank as we are beyond grateful for all who contributed their time, talents, energy and heart…from donating furnishings, driving moving trucks, providing meals, helping with moving in and unpacking, creating beautiful respite guest rooms, running errands, to decorating and making the house a home!

We were overwhelmed with the beauty of each respite room that was donated. Each was lovingly designed with such thought and detail for the women who will come to stay.  Our deepest gratitude to each of the following women for their lovely contributions in decorating the following respite rooms:  Toni Wainwright and TJ Frey (Beach Solitude), Wendy

Wampach and Imagine Realty (Pink Paris), Karen Kalini, Amy Crawford and Theresa Price (Hope Haven), Carla Ashton and Gerry Zillman (Garden Joy) and Lani Kent (Vintage Comfort). You have given a gift that will impact so many hurting women in need of healing rest.

Heartfelt thanks to Sokay Roshek for arriving in our backyard and building raised garden bed structures that soon will be filled with our Restoration Gardens.  We look forward to offering the healing nurture of flower and vegetable gardening for our respite clients. Thank you to Tami Logan for organizing the supplies in our Art Therapy Studio and making it an inviting space for creative healing. Thank you to Tammy Odegard and Rain for all the time and energy in doing so many tasks around the home we lost count! Your support was invaluable!

We are so excited and blessed to have Dan and Kris Close (and Ginger!) back in the NW and living full-time at The Restoration House as our Hosts and Facilitators. They bring many therapeutic gifts to Restoration House and continue making the house a home every day. We are so fortunate for their sacrifice and tender hearts for our vision, for overseeing and managing all house activities and receiving and caring for our respite guests.

A very special thank you to Lani Kent, Therapeutic Arts Facilitator with Healing Expressions for sharing her creative gifts in overseeing the decorating of the house and art therapy studio, redoing and adding new content, photography and slideshow to our SRM website and opening our “Nest Creations” Etsy Store. We are so blessed by her passion and generosity as a Consultant to help us with many facets of creating a safe, therapeutic and nurturing environment for our guests. Please take a moment to read more about day, evening or short term respite stays and see all that is new at The Restoration House.

UPCOMING HOUSE WARMING!

We are excited to announce we will be having an official “House Warming” for The Restoration House on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 12:00-4:00 PM. We will be having live music, hors d’oeuvres and sparkling refreshments.  We look forward to opening the doors to therapists and counselors, church recovery lay pastors, survivors, supporters and all those who walk alongside and assist women recovering from severe trauma. We hope this will be a time you can meet our team, see the home, ask questions about our mission and see how we may assist with short term respite care for the clients you may serve. We strive to create a safe and healing environment at The Restoration House and hope you will stop by to see the heart of what we offer up close and in person! We hope you will come and celebrate with us!

We have had many ask if they can bring a “house warming gift” and if so what our needs are. If you are able and would like to bring a donation to the house warming, we would be deeply appreciative!  The following items would be helpful for the house: Gift cards (Grocery, Home and Garden, Costco, Lowes, Home Depot, Fred Meyer) and white towel sets for respite rooms!

CHILDHOOD TRAUMA SURVIVORS WORKSHOP:

This is a powerful opportunity for the Portland/Vancouver community. Byron Kehler, M.S. is a Trauma Therapist in private practice in Milwaukie with over 30 years of experience in working with survivors of physical, emotional, mental and sexual abuse. He will be offering an all day workshop that we highly recommend!  May 20, 2017 from 9:00AM-5:00PM at Eastridge Covenant Church in Clackamas, OR ($45.00 Per Person).

Thank you for your continued support, prayers and encouragement as we begin this new journey with The Restoration House! We are so excited to see where this new season will take us and the healing and rest the house will facilitate! Blessings to each of you!

Gratefully,

Carla Ashton
